Poorly trained managers.
How many managers are in a position of responsibility due to their time served in a company, not their leadership qualities.
If you use or employ a professional in any capacity, you want to make damn sure they are trained and have proven experience.
How many people have experienced managers that simply cannot manage. They cannot direct, lead or empower their teams.
You see many poor management styles…
The micro-manager or control freak. Often a poor leader who doesn't trust those following them to do their jobs. The staff are left confused or simply idle, employed with no purpose or passion about the company goals.
Next you have the lazy manager. The person who leaves everything to the staff. This manager has little leadership presence, is under-confident in their abilities and avoids decisions for fear of making a mistake.
The final is the self promoter. This manager has poor skills, little knowledge of the organisation yet is socially aware of those above them, who they want to impress. They climb the slippery poll in an organisation, staying away from projects that will expose their weaknesses yet self promoting the things they can do, taking credit for others work, in an effort to accellerate their own careers.
